Other Work

Beyond the Case Studies

Freelance, print, and personal projects from throughout my career — work that reflects where graphic design and visual craft meet the things and people I care about.

Studio Dwell

Freelance Print Design

Once a year I'm hired by Studio Dwell to create their print ads for the MAME Awards — the in-state interior design awards. Each year they come with either a theme or an image in mind, and I work with them through rounds of feedback to achieve the right result. These ads represent the studio publicly and are used for both print and digital placement.

I also worked on a side project with them to design a set of company t-shirts — coming up with a few options they could choose from for internal use.

Print Projects

Graphic Design Print

A selection of print work from across my career and education — spanning large complex projects and smaller commissioned pieces.

Headlong — Jacket Design

Ron MacLean is an award-winning fiction writer based in Boston. After finishing his third novel, Headlong, he reached out with a sketch for the title treatment and a general color scheme. The goals were to convey motion, intrigue, the sense of someone leaving, and a hint of danger. Headlong won the Best Mystery of 2013 Indie Book Award.

Nor'easters — Poster & Album Cover

The award-winning Nor'easters a cappella group at Northeastern asked me to collaborate with photographer Melissa Sinclair on posters and an album cover for a release party. Working on a short timeline with strong photography, we produced materials that stood apart from typical student organization work.

UberVu — Social Media Strategy White Paper

Hired by social media strategy company UberVu to design a large white paper. Their brand was fresh, fun, and clean, and they wanted the engaging spirit of social media to come through in a long-form written piece.

Snow White — Book Design

A typography study using Donald Barthelme's creative interpretation of Snow White. The assignment invited expressive type treatment wherever it felt right — one of the more challenging and enjoyable projects from an advanced typography course.

Sine-Wave — One Sheet

While at Beehive Media, I designed a one-sheeter for client Sine-Wave. They had a lot of information to fit on two sides of a page, and I worked within their existing brand and look-and-feel to create the promotional piece.

Personal Projects

Personal Work

Projects that brought me joy in supporting friends, family, and my own life events.

Expecting by the Week

Created in 2014 from original pen and watercolor sketches of fruits and vegetables, each card represents the size of a baby at a given week of pregnancy. Inspired by food art, the cards can be sent week by week or as a complete bundle.

Expecting by the Week cards: four weekly milestone cards (Weeks 4, 17, 25, and 34) each with a watercolor fruit or vegetable illustration and baby size measurements in hand-lettered type

Wedding Print Work

Over the years I've been asked to help friends with their wedding print needs. Projects included a rustic-romantic farm wedding save-the-date and signage suite (2013), a typographic zoo-themed invitation set with animal place cards in gray and blue (2014), Cape Cod beach wedding signage in an airy, elegant palette (2016), and for my own pandemic backyard wedding in 2020, hand-designed name cards and large-format posters featuring movie and TV quotes about love.
